1. Brief introduction and History of the Department The Vocational Education Programme in the Modibbo Adama University of Technology Yola came into existence in May 2006 when it was carved out from the department of Technology Education. The programmes in the department of Vocational Education include Agricultural Technology Education, Business Education and Home Economics Education which later took off in April 2008. Dr. B. M. Ndomi was appointed as the pioneer Head of the department, followed by Dr. (Mrs) K. G. Farauta. Prof. C. I. Obi is presently the Head of Department.
2. The objectives of the Programmes taught in the department The courses are designed to expose students to all the major areas of Vocational Education through series of lectures, laboratory exercise and tutorials. This occupies the first three years of the course. In the fourth and fifth years, the students are given the opportunity to develop more specialized understanding through an extended research project. A six months industrial attachment is an important component of the courses.
