The department of Electrical Technology Education was created out of the former Department of Technology Education during the first quarter of 2008. The Department of Technology Education was run as a Traditional Vocational Technical Education in four programmes (1) Agricultural Technology Education: (2) Construction Technology Education (3) Electrical/Electronics Technology Education and (4) Mechanical Technology Education. Based on an earlier approval by the Governing Council of the University for splitting the Department of Technology Education into separate Department with each of the four programmes standing as a Department, The Electrical/Electronics Technology programme was upgraded to a full fledged Department named Department of Electrical Technology Education. The department has two academic programmes; (1) Electrical Technology Education and (2) Electronics Technology Education. The Department of Electrical Technology Education at the Modibbo Adama University of Technology, Yola, exists to provide opportunities for the acquisition of high quality Electrical/Electronics Technology Education. Providing for instructional and technical training personnel needs of classroom and industry was central in the development of the programmes of Electrical Technology Education Department. Student achieve those through acquisition of appropriate knowledge, skills and work habits. The department enables individuals to have access to equal education and training opportunities to the fullest extent possible in Electrical and Electronics Technology Education.
The objectives of the Electrical and Electronics Technology Education Programmes of the department are: 1. Produce graduates who are Technologically and Pedagogically competent to teach and occupy leadership positions in vocational and technical schools and colleges. 2. To produce graduates who possess the knowledge technical pedagogical and professional competencies needed to work in industry as training officers and training managers. 3. Equip graduates with the requisite knowledge, technical and pedagogical competencies and skills in their technical areas of specially and research to enable them teach effectively in tertiary institutions of learning. 4. To keep students abreast of state-of-the- art knowledge, skills and attitudes to cope with advancements in the fields of Electrical and Electronic Technologies. 5. To strengthen trainee’s pedagogical competencies, research and development (R & D) skill and community service in contemporary Electrical Electronics Technology. 6. To continue to update career Electrical and Electronics teacher educators with modern theories and practices in Electrical/Electronics Technology Education 7. To improve student’s capabilities in the professional practice of Electrical/Electronic Technology Education with managerial responsibilities.

Postgraduate Programme
Candidates are admitted into the programme of the department as two levels; 200 level Direct entry and 100 level UTME. (a) UTME: Five O’ level credits which must include English Language, Mathematics and any three of the following Physics, Technical Drawing, Chemistry, Basic Electricity, Electronics, General metal Works, Computer studies/ICT Electrical Installation and Maintenance Works Radio TV and Electronics Works Appliance Maintenance and Repairs practice. (b) Direct Entry i. NCE (Tech) with Credits in relevant subjects. ii. OND/HND in Elect/Elect iii GCE ‘A’ level with Credit passes in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry
