BRIEF HISTORY

The Library of the Modibbo Adama University of Technology, Yola was established along with the institution in 1981.  It did not inherit any material from any quarters.  It started with its own materials. The library was operating in a temporary building until 3rd October 1990 when it moved to the present building. The new library complex was named after President Ibrahim Babangida and commissioned by Mr. President himself on 3rd October 1990.  It is a one-storey building with two main reading halls, 9 offices including a workroom and PG. Reading room located on both the ground and first floors.

The main reading areas were designed for an optimum capacity of 750 reader spaces and book stock of 50,000 volumes.  Presently, it has a stock of 30,173 volumes of books and over 5,585 titles of journals.  The books are arranged on the shelves according to the Library of Congress Classification Scheme.
