Welcome to School of Management and Information Technology
HISTORY OF THE SCHOOL
The School of Management and Information Technology was established in 1990 to offer undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in three main departments, namely, the Department of Information Technology, the Department of Management Technology and the Department of Economics and Finance. However, at the moment, the School operates Department of Accountancy, Banking & Finance, Economics, Information and Management Technology and Library and Information Science. The first sets of students were admitted in the 2000/2001 session into five programmes as follows;-

1. PHILOSOPHY AND OBJECTIVE
Nigeria is endowed with vast human and natural resources, but one of the problems plaguing its development is the proper harnessing and management of these resources for the common good. This problem has become more pronounced with the introduction of information and Communication as a major management tool which has revolutionized the way business I s transacted and reduced the World into a global village. Nigeria needs to build its human capacity to respond to the challenges of the information age if it hopes to be a player in the information and management revolution of the 21st century. The school of Management and Information Technology was established to address this area of critical need in our national socio-economic development. This school is unique in its orientation and in the courses if offers. It is the first Management School in the Country to offer a degree programme in information and communication technology. It is also the only management school in the country that prepares its students for the challenges of the Information and communication age by building into it Accountancy, Economics, Information and Communication Technology, Management Technology, Banking & Finance and Library Information & Sciences programmes fifty percent information technology based content.
The main objectives of the school is to train skilled Accountants, Economists, Banking & Finance, Management, Librarian and Information Technology experts who will occupy important positions in public and private sector organizations and function effectively and efficiently in the knowledge based and Information driven economy of the 21st century.
